- 1Confirm the oven has power at the breaker panel. Electric ovens use a double breaker, and one tripped half kills the heat while the clock stays lit.
- 2Make sure the clock isn't set to a delayed bake or timed cook mode, which blocks the oven from firing when you ask it to.
- 3Take a flashlight to the bake element and look for a blister, a split, or a bright burn mark along the coil.
- 4Close the door on a folded dollar bill. If it slides out with no drag, the seal is leaking heat.

How do I know if it's the element or the control board?
A visibly broken element is easy. When it looks fine, we measure resistance and check whether the board is actually sending voltage to it. Both parts fail with the same symptom, so guessing usually means buying the wrong one.
My oven runs hot. Can I just recalibrate it?
Many ovens let you offset the temperature by a few degrees in the settings, and that handles small drift. If you're off by fifty degrees or more, the sensor or board is failing, and an offset only hides it.
Should I stop using the self-clean cycle?
It works, but it pushes the cavity past 800 degrees. That heat is what kills thermal fuses, door lock motors, and control boards. Clean by hand more often and save self-clean for rare occasions.
Is a gas oven repair something I can do myself?
Replacing an igniter looks simple online. The risk sits in the gas connections and sealed valves. If you smell gas, shut off the supply and call us. Some of this work belongs to a technician with a manometer.
Do you work on wall ovens and double ovens?
Yes. Wall ovens add access work because the unit is built into cabinetry. Double ovens have two sets of elements and sensors, and sometimes separate boards, so we diagnose each cavity on its own.
Are parts still available for an older oven?
Often they are. Elements, igniters, and sensors stay in production a long time. Control boards for discontinued models are the sticking point. We'll tell you straight when a part has dried up so you can decide.
